BYU and what bowl game?

Posted by ESPN.com's Graham Watson
1. BYU is the non-BCS' best hope: No, not for a BCS bid, there are a still five other teams with undefeated records, but the Cougars might be the non-BCS' best hope for a national championship bid. I know, I know, it's only the fifth weekend of the season. Trust me, I've said the same thing a gazillion times to BYU fans. But you can't deny that there's something special in this team. After its controversial win against Washington, the Cougars have gone on to outscore their opponents 103-0. That's dominant no matter whom the Cougars are playing. The Cougars have their highest national ranking since 2001, and if things continue to go the way they're going, they'll be in the Top 8 by the time they meet Utah in November.

Game #4 BYU 44 Wyoming 0

#11 BYU (4-0)
Well, if you look back to my post a couple days ago you will see that I predicted a win of at least 42 points and a possible shut out. Maybe ESPN should hire me to be a sports analyst...lol. BYU had another dominant game. After the game, on espn.com I read, "The game was over when Max Hall and the confident cougars took the field at Lavell Edwards Stadium." I found it kind of funny when I read in the school newspaper today that the game winning touchdown was the first one that was scored (which was by BYU's defense)! Go cougs!

Test Video of Carter

This is my first video I've tried to upload and I wasn't sure of the quality from my camera since it is about 4 years old. So here's Carter trying to eat my chips.

Alexis and Football

So this morning I said to Alexis, "I love football." She replied, "I don't love football." I told her, "That's ok but maybe someday you will. Maybe someday you might go to BYU and you will go to the football games." She looked at me with a very puzzled look and then asked, "Will you go with me?" My obvious response was, "Of course!"

She cracks me up. The way she looked at me before asking if I would go to the games was priceless. I love her little personality!

Week 4: BYU vs. Wyoming

BYU is having an amazing season. They destroyed UCLA last week and Wyoming is nowhere close to being as good of a team as UCLA. They have barely been winning at home against teams that are even worse than they are. For them to come to Provo and think that they have a chance to win would be beyond ridiculous. As long as BYU plays a solid game and not overconfident from last weeks win they should beat Wyoming by at least 42 points. IF they play as solid as last week there should be no reason to not see another shut out this week with BYU again scoring in the 50's. Bottom line: BYU is going to dominate and have a good chance to be ranked in the top 10.

Quarter of a Century! Happy Birthday to me!

Today was my 25th birthday! I can't believe I'm actually 25. I don't feel like it. Time has sure gone by really fast. Quick review of the day....I took the kids to daycare, went to school and studied and had my classes, picked up the kids from daycare and came home, ate dinner, let the kids play outside with the Zastrows, then ate a very delicious homemade German Chocolate cake that Brent made for my birthday. It was a pretty typical day but it was good. It was great being able to spend time with kids.

The kids and me. I look older than 25 with my balding head!

Atlas (Zastrow) and Carter

Football in the news....

So today I checked out a few things on ESPN.com and came across a few things I would like to share with everybody. First of all there was this that I came across:

"The Mountain West was 4-0 against the Pac-10 and did it in impressive fashion. The average margin of victory was 22.4 points per game. Now, obviously, a lot of that margin came from BYU's historical manhandling of UCLA, but TCU, New Mexico and UNLV won their games by an average of 9.3 points, including the Rebels' 23-20 overtime win against No. 15 Arizona State off a blocked field goal attempt."

Another part that I thought was pretty funny was a list of players that did really good and those that aren't doing so great. Under a list of "Struggling Players" they listed a whole team in such manner:

5. UCLA
"How did this team beat Tennessee? The Bruins had 9 rushing yards and four turnovers and were completely overwhelmed in a 59-0 loss at BYU."

All I have to say is go Mountain West Conference and go BYU!!

Sunday with Mike and Brittany

The kids and I had a great dinner with Mike and Brittany. The kids enjoyed themselves and had a lot of fun playing with Brittany and terrorizing their house. Carter thoroughly enjoyed playing with Mike's basketball. And don't be deceived, although Carter is huge and looks like he fits more of the offspring size of Mike, he is mine and came from me :)

Game #3 BYU 59, UCLA 0

Yes, that score is correct, BYU scored 59 points and UCLA scored none! This was one of the most amazing games I have ever been to! What an incredible game! It was supposed to be close because UCLA is a good team and beat Tennessee two weeks ago who was then ranked #18. Max Hall set a record for BYU with six touchdown passes in the first half and tied the all-time BYU record with a total of 7 TD passes in the game. Most of the second half was played by second and third string players. This was the worst loss UCLA has had since 1929! Oh, and this pic is Matt Putnam sacking UCLA's QB. He is a defensive lineman who had a great game and an interception (as a defensive lineman)!!

Super Busy

Things are getting really busy. Six demanding classes + kids being sick = NO TIME. I'm really looking forward to the weekend! I'll catch up more later.

Game #2 BYU 28, UW 27

Not much to say about this game. It was hard fought and a bunch of penalties that weren't called against UW which led to the big controversial call after UW scored a touchdown and was penalized for excessive celebration. Point is, BYU came up with a big play when it was most needed: they blocked the PAT which would have tied the game and BYU won.

A great Saturday

I got up and did some cleaning for a couple hours and the kids played a little outside. At 1pm the Zastrows, Brandon, Brad and Jessie, and Tiffany came over to watch the BYU football game. Alexis, Coen, Carter, and Atlas had a blast dancing and jumping around in Alexis's room and the living room. Meagan made a cake for Brad's birthday (which was a couple days ago) so we had a little celebration. A little after the game, everybody left except for the Zastrow's (who live next door, which is awesome!) and the kids continued to play.

Brent and I went out to our backyards and hacked down some huge branches that were hanging in my yard, covering up most of the backyard. In the meanwhile, the kids continued to ride their bikes around and then played on the slide and swingset in my backyard. The day ended watching a part of the Utah football game and playing with the kids as they played around. Blah, blah, blah....i'm sure this is boring so just check out the pics.

Week #2 BYU vs. UW

BYU plays the University of Washington in Seattle on Saturday at 1pm MST on Fox Sports Network. I've heard on the radio a million times now that BYU is on an 11 game winning streak (leading the nation) and UW has only won 12 games total since 2003! So, this should be a pretty easy game for BYU. However, you can never overlook UW's talent and determination to stop the success of a team like BYU so it should be a good game, but I think BYU is going to crush them.

More pics...I love these kids!!!

I was trying to take a picture of Alexis's hair cut but Carter apparently thought it was more important to get a pic of him and by looking at her eyes, she wasn't ready anyway!

So here was Alexis with her new haircut (and Carter behind her trying to get in the picture again). She's so stinkin cute!

I did not set up this pose....they are just very photogenic!

Here's a side view of Alexis's haircut

And here is Carter just before bed. He's such a handsome little guy!

Labor Day = Last day of freedom before school starts!

So today was very relaxing. The kids spent some time playing in Alexis's room while there was a huge storm outside. After the storm the kids went out and played outside with the Zastrows (Coen and Atlas). Here are a couple random pics of the kids throughout the day.

This is them right now, watching the movie "Cars" which Grandma bought for them

A shot from behind as the movie started

Here was Alexis looking at some books after playing outside

And here are the kids this morning playing in Alexis's room.
